After our little jaunt on Ogden River Parkway we went on to see Waterfall Canyon, also in Ogden. That is one of the nice things about our guide, 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles: Salt Lake City: everything is ordered in geographical areas with a map showing where each of the hikes is in relation to the others. Makes planning multiple hike trips easy.
I wasn't expecting too much of this waterfall from the picture in the book, but the author must have gone later in the Summer . . . I was startled when the waterfall actually came into view, it was amazing. I literally felt a surge of awe in response.
This trail starts off the same as Malan's peak but then turns to the right here at this guidepost. If I was living in Ogden I'd be glad to be near the 29th street trailhead: there are a bunch of hikes that start off from here.
Some of the only shade on the Bonneville Shoreline portion of the trail, this overhanging tree is great for a quick breather.
Around the corner and you can see the foot of the canyon.
First glimpse of the falls among the trees.
Looking out over Ogden from the point of the falls.
Its always amazing to see where things will grow.
On our way back to the trailhead we saw this lovely long snake who was cautiously crossing our path.
This was a great trail, though quite steep with a lot of bolder hopping. If you can go when the water is gushing in the late Spring you will be rewarded with a spectacular waterfall.
