Last week we had a chance to visit Cecret Lake. This was one of the busier trails in our guide, 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles: Salt Lake City. In that way it reminded a bit of the Y Mountain hike, only with a much cooler destination. Cecret Lake is beautiful, and it was a great time to go with all the wildflowers in bloom.
A short jaunt off the main trail lets you view the cascades that drains from the lake above.
Wildflowers sprout up along this steep section of trail . . . almost there.
You can see the stone basin that encloses the lake at several points.
Following the trail around the lake you have to cross this field of boulders to continue. The largest are the size of cars.
The parking lot was full, so we had to park a half mile down the road. We were treated to hill sides of wildflowers and views across the basin.
Great little hike! We went on to do the Catherine Pass Trail and Sunset Peak that day as well.
